Traditional Mechanical Steering for Stern Drives

Traditional mechanical steering is recommended for power assisted steering applications and some smaller inboards. Safe-T was originally introduced in 1968. The original "The Rack" debuted in 1984, with the latest update (Backmount Rack) released in 1996. Millions were sold, resulting in a large replacement market. The current versions of Safe-T and The Rack fit the dash hole patterns of their predecessors (incuding Morse Command 200 rack), making replacement simple.

Safe-T QC and Backmount Rack helms are recommended for use wiht power-assisted steering and some small inboards. For other applications, use NFB or SeaStar. All systems meet ABYC standards and NMMA certification requirements.

Safe-T QC is ideal for power steered boasts in which No Feedback is NOT required. Safet-T QC replaces all Telflex Safe-T helms made since 1968 with little or no dash modifications. For single station use only. Components are available for dual cable systems, but Teleflex recommends No-Feedback steering for all duak cable steered outboards. Safe-T has been sold since 1968.

The Rack (Backmount Rack) SS141

The Rack is still the choice for stern drives, inboards and other power assisted applications in which No FeedBack systems are not required. The Teleflex Rack features the precision and comfort of four turns lock-to-lock and replaces 1984-date Teleflex and Morse rack steering without dash modifications. (Requires use of included SSC134 Back Mount Rack cable.) For single station use only. Components are available for dual cable systems, but we recommend No-FeedBack steering for all dual cable steered outboards.
